Barbara Johnson, LPC-S, CCTP is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, and a Licensed Social Worker providing individual, family, and couples therapy. Her focus is working with children, adolescents, adults, seniors and couples utilizing a strength based philosophy empowering her clients to collaboratively find solutions to their challenges while focusing on the present and acknowledging their history. Her passion is working with couples who are struggling in their relationships and are committed to building healthy lasting relationships.

Her theoretical orientation is family systems with components of Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She approaches therapy from the perspective that each client is unique and should therefore tailor therapy to meet their individual needs while including family systems and being culturally sensitive.

Barbara has over thirty years' experience working with children, adolescents, and families in various settings including; alternative schools, juvenile facilities, child welfare systems, community counseling centers and community colleges. She has worked with various issues such as trauma, depression, grief and loss, bipolar, anxiety, chemical dependency, oppositional defiant behavior, marital issues and educational issues. She has been a Licensed Professional Counselor for fifteen years and a Licensed Social Worker over thirty years .

She received her undergraduate degree in Sociology from Canisius College of Buffalo, New York; Her graduate degrees from Prairie View A&M University in Sociology and Counseling. She has extensive doctoral clinical work in Marriage and Family Therapy from Texas Woman's University. Barbara is a member of the Houston Licensed Professional Counselor Association.

She truly enjoys meeting people and creating a safe atmosphere to help them define how they want their lives to be different and identify the steps that will help them reach their goals. Her clients and colleagues describe her as personable and authentic.
